Fine Art for Kids – Draw Like an Artist!

The "Fine Art for Kids – Mastering Technique" programme is designed to empower young artists to move beyond "drawing what they see" to "creating with mastery." 

Our creative programme focuses on bridging the gap between imagination and technical skill. Through structured guidance, young artists will discover the secret ingredients of great art while practicing professional techniques in a supportive, creative environment with a calming musical background.

This term, our focus will be on creating smaller, but higher-quality pieces with artistic precision. This approach allows the children to slow down and truly master the intricate skills of shading, layering, and observation - helping them build a strong foundation for their future masterpieces.

Skills & Techniques Covered:

Precision Drawing: Understanding light, shadow, and tonal values using professional graphite pencils.

Color Theory & Layering: Mastering blending, color harmony, and glowing effects with watercolor layering.

The Art of Observation: Developing the "artist's eye" to see shapes, proportions, and fine details, translating them to paper with creative thinking.

Mixed Media Mastery: Experimenting with acrylics and pastels to create unique textures and vibrant effects.

Children will develop their skills in a peaceful studio atmosphere, with calming music to inspire their creativity and focus.

Course Details: 

Wednesdays, 3:25 PM – 4:30 PM / Years 3 - 6 

Term 5 & 6 (22rd April – 8th July)

Dates: APR: 22nd, 29th / MAY: 6th, 13th, 20th (Half term: 27th May - no class) /  JUNE: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th / JULY: 1st, 8th

All materials are provided

Qualified Art & Design Teacher (QTS)

Arts Award Gold Adviser / Mentor

Illustration and Visual Media (London College of Communication, UAL)

BA (Hons) Drama, Theatrical performances

Art & Design (Camberwell Colledge of Art, UAL)

Enhanced DBS & First Aid Certified
